Martin Lake

Chapman Lake

Status Quo: No Ice Fishing

Additional Regulation: Trout daily quota = 2

Rationale:

Martin Lake: 2021 stock assessment data indicates there are few fish over 35cm. Historically the fishery produced much larger fish. The installation of a fishing dock and development of the Regional District campground has likely contributed to increased angling effort and harvest.

Chapman Lake: The fishery is supported by natural recruitment but in some years, there are notable fish stranding issues downstream of the dam. Angler reports suggest that road improvements, related to dam upgrades, have significantly increased the angling pressure and CPUE and fish size has declined.

Additional Information:

Martin Lake: 2021 gillnet data indicates a significant reduction in fish size with few fish over 350mm in the sample. Angler feedback suggests there has been an increase in angling effort and decline in CPUE and fish size

Chapman Lake: 2016 gillnet data indicates a quality stock at that time. Angler feedback suggests there has been an increase in angling effort and decline in CPUE and fish size. Downstream fish stranding issues, related to reservoir management, create annual variations in recruitment. A reduced quota is intended to ensure the persistence of the stock
