Proposed Regulations:

ATV and Snowmobile for Hunting Closed Areas: 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, MUs 5-03 to 5-06, and 5-14.

ATV and Snowmobile for Hunting Closed Areas: Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, MUs 5-12 and 5-13

Rationale:

Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is proposing to modify the ATV and snowmobile for hunting closures in M.U.s 5-03, 5-04, 5-05, 5-06, (South Chilcotin) and 5-12 to 5-14 from September 1-December 10 to September 1 – November 30. This modification will align the start and end dates for all existing seasonal ATV and snowmobile hunting prohibitions in the Chilcotin Management Units.

The proposed change is intended to allow the use of ATVs and snowmobiles while hunting for predators from early December to August, outside of the ungulate hunting seasons. The seasonal prohibition for ATV and snowmobile use will remain in the South Chilcotin and MU 5-14 (September 1 – November 30) which covers the entirety of the mule deer, white-tailed deer, bighorn sheep, mountain goat and moose hunting seasons. Therefore, the proposed change will not increase the ability of hunters to use ATVs and snowmobiles while hunting ungulate populations.
