Summary of Activity:
Maintenance of Scout Properties (BC/Yukon) overnight camping facilities including:(a) 5m x 10m open sided, metal roofed wooden picnic shelter on 5m x 5m concrete pad; (b) 12 toilets (10 wooden, 2 plastic); (c) picnic tables; (d) 1 metal tower; (e) well, pump distribution lines and storage tank.
Facilities as described pre-date park establishment and are maintained by local Scout Canada members and volunteers. Their continuance in the Protected Area is intended to support day use activities and overnight camping for Scouts Canada and youth organization partners.
Activities must be minimally impactful to all park values and consistent with the Park Act and all other applicable legislation. Use of the land surrounding the facilities is limited to educational and youth land-based experiences.
Any proposed modifications to existing facilities, addition of new facilities, or activities not described here and with potential impact to park values must be approved through Annual Operating Plan process. Proposals will be evaluated through BC Parks Impact Assessment process as well as shared for consideration by First Nations partners.
