Geological Summary
The three major rock units are the Hazelton fragmental volcanics (Lower Jurassic), the Bowser sediments (Middle and Upper Jurassic) and the Hyder quartz monzonite stock (Tertiary). A major feature is the northern extension of the Portland Canal shear zone. Base metal sulphide mineralization with gold and silver values is exposed in old workings at several locations: Tyee, Mayflower, Victoria, Silver Ledge, Emperor and Quartz Reef.
