The underlying rocks are dacites, trachytes, rhyollites, conglomerates and siltstone of the Toodoggone Group (Early to Middle Jurassic). The rhyolitic rocks cut by numerous quartz veinlets and quartz-calcite cemented breccias may be silicified dacite.
