Geological Summary
INTERBEDDED CHLORITIZED BASALT TUFFACEOUS CHERT AND MINOR ARGILLITE UNDERLIES THE WINDY CRAGGY MASSIVE SULPHIDE DEPOSIT. THESE ROCKS ARE CUT BY A WELL DEVELOPED STRINGER SULPHIDE ZONE. OVERLYING ROCKS INCLUDE RELATIVELY FRESH CALCAREOUS ALKALI BASALT AND TUFF INTERCALATED WITH LIMY CARBON- ACEOUS SILTSTONE AND ARGILLITE. THESE ROCKS ARE LATE TRIASSIC IN AGE (NORIAN). THE MAJOR METALLIC MINERALS ARE COBALTIFEROUS PYRITE AND PYRRHOTITE, WITH SUBORDINATE CHALCOPYRITE AND MINOR SPHAL- ERITE.
