Geological Summary |
THE RIFT OCCURRENCE IS IN THE HANGING WALL OF THE COLUMBIA RIVER FAULT ZONE. IT OCCURS WITHIN A SEQUENCE OF ISOCLINALLY FOLDED METASEDIMENTARY ROCKS, INCLUDING CALC-SILICATE GNEISSES, IMPURE MARBLE, AMPHIBOLITE, PELITIC SCHISTS, PSAMONITE AND QUARTZITE THAT ARE CUT BY QUARTZ MONZONITE SILLS AND DYKES. MINERALIZATION COMPRISES A NUMBER OF LAYERS UP TO 2 METRES THICK OF MASSIVE SPHAL- ERITE, PYRITE, PYRRHOTITE AND GALENA.
