THE METALLIC MINERALIZATION IN THE COLES CREEK AREA APPEARS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH UPPER CRETA- CEOUS AND EOCENE INTRUSIVE AND VOLCANIC ACTIVITY. BROAD ZONES OF HORNFELS ALTERA- TION, LOCAL PROPHYLITIC ALTERATION, PYRITIZATION AND LOCALIZATION OF BRECCIA, SILICA INJECTION AND BASE METAL AND PRECIOUS METAL MINERALIZATION ACCOMPANIED EMPLACEMENT OF THE INTRUSIONS.
