THE NORTHWEST TRENDING DUKE RIVER FAULT IS A CONTACT BETWEEN UPPER PALEOZOIC SEDIMENTS ON THE WEST AND UPPER TRIASSIC VOLCANICS AND SEDIMENTS ON THE EAST. EXTENSIVE AREAS OF SERICITE ALTERA- TION WITH QUARTZ AND PYRITE VEINING OCCUR MARGI- NAL TO CRETACEOUS DIORITE STOCKS WHICH ARE INTRUDED ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF THE FAULT. NO GEOCHEMICAL ANOMALIES WERE DETECTED.
