THE AREA IS UNDERLAIN BY MESOZOIC VOLCANICS AND METASEDIMENTS OF THE KING SALMON ASSEMBLAGE WHICH IS SUBDIVIDED INTO THREE LITHOLOGICAL DIVISIONS. THE LOWEST DIVISION IS FELSIC TO MAFIC VOLCANICS, THE MIDDLE BEING CARBONATE, AND THE UPPER DIVISION IS MAINLY PHYLLITE.
