THE CLAIMS ARE UNDERLAIN BY A NORTHERLY TRENDING SEQUENCE OF VOLCANIC AND SEDIMENTARY ROCKS AND INTRUSIONS OF THE (UPPER PALEOZOIC) FENNEL FOR- MATION, CLOSE TO ITS CONTACT WITH THE EAGLE BAY FORMATION. THE SEQUENCE, FROM WEST TO EAST, CONSISTS OF MAFIC FLOWS AND CHERTY ARGILLITE, CHERT AND CHERTY ARGILLITE, FELSIC TUFF AND WACKE WHICH HAVE BEEN INTRUDED BY DIORITE PLUGS AND DYKES AND FELSIC FLOWS AND PYROCLASTICS, ARGIL- LITE, WACKE, CHERT AND INTERMEDIATE TO FELSIC TUFFS WHICH HAVE BEEN INTRUDED BY QUARTZ-FELDSPAR PORPHYRY DYKES.
