THE JOY CLAIMS ARE UNDERLAIN BY GREENSTONES, TUFFS, LIMESTONES, AND ARGILLACEOUS SEDIMENTS OF THE MOUNT ROBERTS FORMATION (CARBONACEOUS), NELSON GRANITES (CRETACEOUS) AND CORYELL SYENITE (EOCENE). SHEARING AND SILICIFICATION WERE NOTED. NUMEROUS OLD WORKINGS EXPOSE QUARTZ VEINING AND SILICIFIED SHEAR ZONES BEARING 140-160 DEGREES. GALENA, PYRITE, CHALCOPYRITE AND SPHALERATE OCCUR IN SHEAR ZONES CUTTING GREENSTONES OF THE MOUNT ROBERTS FORMATION. WEAK SKARN MINERALIZATION IS ALSO PRESENT.
