Geological Summary
Lower Jurassic Hazelton Group andesite is intruded by sub- volcanic potassium feldspar-quartz-hornblende-plagioclase porphyries. Structures which controlled porphyry emplacement also controlled later gold-silver bearing stockwork vein and quartz-adularia plus or minus sulphide breccias. Main alteration and vein minerals are quartz, potassium feldspar, sericite and calcite, with pyrite, sphalerite, galena, tetrahedrite and electrum. The zone under exploration is peripheral to stopes of the former Silbak Premier Mine.
