Geological Summary |
The area is underlain by sedimentary and volcanic rocks which have been intruded and metamorphosed by igneous rocks. The oldest rocks in the area are slates, limestones, quartzites, andesites and banded tuffs of the Pennsylvanian Mount Roberts Formation. These are overlain by Lower Jurassic Rossland Group andesitic to basaltic flows, augite porphyry and tuffs. These in turn have been intruded by a series of intrusive rocks.
