The underlying rocks are Triassic Takla Group porphyritic basalt and andesite, Lower to Middle Jurassic Toodoggone pyroclastics and foliated granodiorite and/or quartz diorite and feldspar porphyry intrusives. These rocks are heavily faulted, and most faults strike northwest.
