Geological Summary
The geology of the property is characterized by Proterozoic sediments of the Purcell and Windermere Supergroups intruded by Cretaceous granitic rocks of the Bayonne Batholith. In many areas limestones and other sediments have undergone contact metamorphism and metasomatism resulting from the granitic intrusion. Vein and skarn type mineralization occur in the area. The Val fault-shear trends north and is the locus for mineralization. Numerous old workings such as Hope of Discovery, Copper Canyon, Imperial and Valporaiso/Government date back to the turn of the century. The workings are located along the Val fault. The area has been explored for high grade silver, lead, zinc, gold, tungsten and copper.
