Geological Summary
The Murex Group is underlain by Triassic and older Karmutsen Formation mafic volcanics. These rocks are unconformably overlain by Cretaceous Nanaimo Group detrital sedimentary rocks. Dioritic intrusives of Tertiary age have produced breccias and vein systems which bear copper, gold and silver mineralization.
