Geological Summary |
Karmutsen basalt and andesite flows, massive Quatsino limestone, Parson Bay Formation, argillaceous and carbonaceous sedimentary rocks, and Bonanza andesite flows and breccias are intruded by granodiorite, diorite, andesite and hornblende-porphyry (Jurassic to Tertiary). Skarn mineralization, containing chalcopyrite, bornite, sphalerite, ganlena, pyrite, magnetite and specularite, occurs along limestone contacts for over 2 kilometres. The mineralization strikes north- easterly, usually has a shallow dip to the southeast and has been block faulted. Some faults may have served as channelways for mineralizing solutions.
