Summary of Activity:
The purpose of our research at Goose Island is to assess the sites capacity for intertidal geoduck aquaculture. The research is part of an NSERC-funded applied research project led by North Island College (NIC) in collaboration with the Central Coast Commercial Fisheries Association (CCCFA), the Central Coast Indigenous Resource Alliance (CCIRA), the Marine Plan Partnership for the North Pacific Coast (MaPP), the Kitasoo / Xaixais, and the Heiltsuk. Dr. Chris Pearce (Research Scientist, Fisheries and Oceans Canada) and Sally Cargill (Marine Policy Analyst, BC Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development) are also on the project team.
