Summary of Activity:
I operate a small-scale backpacking and hiking guiding company based in Jasper, Alberta. Many of our trails approved for commercial use in Jasper National Park (i.e. the North Boundary Trail, and Moose Pass Trail) travel through sections of Mount Robson Provincial Park and being able to operate in Mount Robson Provincial Park is critical for the feasibility of those routes. Our activities focus allowing clients to experience the splendor the natural landscape and foster an appreciation for the value of protecting wild places while educating them about the natural and human history of the area. This application proposes guided hiking and backpacking activities in several areas: -Guided backpacking along the Moose River Route and Colonel Pass Route (commercial usage permits have already been obtained for the sections of those routes travelling in Jasper National Park). -Guided backpacking along the Berg Lake Trail (to Whitehorn Campground in Summer 2024 if it re-opens as forecasted, and the full trail when it is re-openness to the public in Summer 2025 as forecasted). -Snowshoeing activities along the Berg Lake Trail during the winter season. -Day usage of the Berg Lake Trail to exit from Jasper National Park's North Boundary and Moose Pass Trails (commercial usage permits have already been obtained for the trails in Jasper National Park) when the Berg Lake Trail re-opens to the public in Summer 2025 as forecasted. -Guided day-hiking in the Dave Henry Creek area accessed via Dave Henry Lodge (no overnight component inside Mount Robson Provincial Park). -Guided backpacking in the Fraser Pass drainage (accessed out of the park). All of our activities involve small groups (2-6 guests with an estimated average of 4 guests per activity) and only 1-2 activities per operational season per area. It is our hope that this low level of usage allows for client's to experience the landscape with minimal disturbance to wildlife, vegetation, other trail users, and local Indigenous practices.
