Summary of Activity:
DWB is managing a ecological restoration project on behalf of its partnership with Cheslatta Carrier Nation to restore whitebark pine populations that were lost in wildfire in the 2018 Tweesdmuir Complex Fires. In 2023, 10,000 whitebark pine trees were planted at Eutsuk Peak in parternship with the BVRC. Work in 2024 will include planting an additional 10,000 whitebark pine trees, monitoring survivorship of 2023 planted seedlings, and Clark's Nutcracker surveys/monitoring. This work is funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada's Aboriginal Fund for Species at Risk (AFSAR) and Cheslatta Carrier Nation.
