Summary of Activity:
This project seeks to complete a DNA inventory of the critically endangered Stein-Nahatlatch grizzly bear population. This will involve use of barbed wire hair snag sites to collect grizzly bear hair and remote cameras to facilitate species identification to reduce lab analysis costs and confirm reproductive status. A scent lure will be used to increase detection probabilities. This project will require helicopter access for remote sites. Sampling will follow a 7km x 7km grid design with a single site within each grid cell, approximately 40 in total with 8-10 within the Stein Valley Nlaka'pamux Heritage Park.
