Summary of Proposed Activity:
In support of Trans Mountain's pipeline expansion project the BC Environmental Assessment Office has required a Current Shoreline Conditions report of 6 selected sites in BC. One of these sites is on Great Race Rock Island in the Race Rock Ecological Reserve. Our field team will collect photographs and document the current shoreline condition, including: shoreline type/character, natural and manmade features, general observed biota and fauna, and any current uses of the shoreline (human use, agriculture, cultural use, etc.). No detailed scientific assessments will be conducted, nor will any biota, fauna, or material be removed from the shoreline. Total area surveyed will be about 0.7 km of the shoreline with the team mainly staying within the lower to supra tidal zones.
