THE AREA IS UNDERLAIN BY A SERIES OF LAVAS AND PYROCLASTIC ROCKS OF LATE MESOZOIC OR EARLY TERTIARY AGE, AND A SERIES OF YOUNGER VOLCANIC ROCKS EQUIVALENT OF OOTSA FORMATION, WHICH ARE CUT BY SILLS AND DYKES. MINERALIZATION CONSISTS OF VEINS CONTAINING VARYING AMOUNTS OF PYRITE, SPHALERITE, CHALCOPYRITE, GALENA AND TENANTITE- TETRAHEDRITE IN A GANGUE OF RHODOCHROSITE, QUARTZ, CHALCEDONY AND BARITE.
