THE AREA IS UNDERLAIN BY INTERBEDDED VOLCANIC AND SEDIMENTARY ROCKS OF THE FERGUSSON FORMATION. THE ROCK TYPES INCLUDE PILLOWED BASALTS, CHERTS, ARGILLITES AND LIMESTONE. THE VOLCANICS ARE CUT BY A LARGE NUMBER OF FAULTS AND SHEAR ZONES CARRYING PYRITE.
