THE UNDERLYING ROCKS ARE BLACK PHYLLITES AND ARGILLITES WITH MINOR INTERBEDS OF ARENACEOUS ROCKS (UPPER TRIASSIC). THE ORIGINAL TEXTURES OF THESE ROCKS ARE LARGELY OBLITERATED BY INTENSE SHEARING. THE ROCKS ARE LOCALLY INTRUDED BY LEUCOCRATIC RHYOLITE(?) DYKES AND PLUGS. THE SOILS ARE STRONGLY ANOMALOUS IN GOLD.
