THE AREA IS UNDERLAIN BY THE UPPER TRIASSIC TO LOWER JURASSIC VOLCANIC AND SEDIMENTARY SUCCESSION OF THE PARSON BAY AND BONANZA FORMATIONS. INTRUDING THIS; SOME HUNDREDS OF FEET SOUTH OF THE HOLE IS THE MIDDLE JURASSIC GRANODIORITIC "RUPERT" STOCK. HYDROTHERMAL AND/OR METASOMATIC ALTERATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE INTRUSION ARE MINIMAL IN THIS AREA.
