Geological Summary |
THE MAIN ORE-BEARING ROCK IS MEDIUM-GRAINED QUARTZ-DIORITE OF TRIASSIC AGE. THE COMPOSITION IS ABOUT 30 PER CENT QUARTZ, 50 PER CENT PLAGIOCLASE AND 20 PER CENT MAFICS. IT OCCURS AS A BATHOLITHIC INTRUSION INTO ROCKS OF THE CACHE CREEK GROUP. ALTERATION IS IN THE FORM OF SAUSSURITIZATION, SERICITIZATION, AND CHLORITIZATION. MINERALIZATION CONSISTS OF CHALCOPYRITE, CHALCOCITE, BORNITE, AND MOLYBDENITE. ECONOMIC ORE IN THE GRANITE LAKE AREA COVERS AN AREA ABOUT 1500 METRES BY 900 METRES. ORE IS ORIENTED ABOUT 90 DEGREES OVER 30 DEGREES SOUTH. BLOCK FAULTING HAS DISRUPTED THE CONTINUITY OF THE ORE.
