Geological Summary
Drilling intersected gently southwestward dipping Upper Triassic Vancouver Group succession of, from oldest to youngest, Parson Bay Formation siltstone with thick sections of tuffaceous/porphyritic rocks, Quatsino Formation limestone and interlayered tuffaceous/ porphyritic rocks, and Karmutsen Formation basalt. A quartz-feldspar porphyry dyke cuts the Parson Bay rocks. The Quatsino Formation has an apparent thickness of about 45 metres in this location. Sphalerite and chalcopyrite occur in short sections of garnet skarn in the limestone at contacts between limestone and tuffaceous/porphyritic rocks.
