Gold and silver mineralization occurs within the Vollaug Vein dipping 30 degrees north. The vein occurs above listwanite (an altered serpentinite) at the listwanite-volcanic contact and is overlain by argillite. The volcanic and sedimentary sequence is of Lower Devonian to Mississippian age.
