Geological Summary |
Lower elevations feature a contact zone between tuffaceous Hazelton volcanics (aka Lower Jurassic Unuk River Formation) and the Hyder quartz monzonite/hornblende diorite intrusive. Silicified zones along the contact carry gold-copper mineralization, with occasional cross-cutting silver-lead-zinc veins. At higher elevations, in the vicinity of the Silverado Mine, shear zones in Hazelton volcanics host lenticular deposits of silver-lead-zinc mineralization.
