Geological Summary |
The area is underlain by Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation basalts and andesites and Upper Triassic massive grey Quatsino Formation limestone. These rocks are intruded to the east and north by Jurassic Island Intrusion granodiorite-diorite and to the south by Upper Paleozoic and/or Triassic and Jurassic rocks of the Westcoast Complex. Hornfels zones appear to develop proximal to dioritic intrusions. Small podiform skarns with chalcopyrite, magnetite and lesser sphalerite develop locally.
